Burns Night Gala Ceilidh & Traditional Supper
About This Event
A Feast for the Bard in the Scottish Capital
Burns Night is celebrated with unparalleled warmth and panache in Edinburgh. On January 25th, diners gather across atmospheric dining halls to pay tribute to Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns, in an evening steeped in centuries-old ritual, witty poetry, and hearty cuisine.
Ceremonial Address to a Haggis
The centerpiece of the evening is the grand piping-in of the haggis by a kilted bagpiper, followed by a dramatic recitation of Burns's 1786 masterpiece 'Address to a Haggis'. After the theatrical plunge of the ceremonial dirk, guests feast on prime haggis, buttery neeps, and fluffy tatties, accompanied by single malt Scotch whisky toasts.
Rousing Ceilidh Finale
Once the Immortal Memory and the Toast to the Lassies are concluded, tables are pushed aside for an exuberant ceilidh band. Dance until the early hours to the Flying Scotsman, Strip the Willow, and Orcadian Strip the Willow.
