Edinburgh International Science Festival
About This Event
Where Curiosity and Innovation Collide
Founded in 1989 as the world's first public science festival, the Edinburgh Science Festival remains one of the UK's leading celebrations of innovation, physics, biotechnology, and green energy. For over two weeks during the Easter holidays, Edinburgh turns into a sprawling laboratory for curious minds of all ages.
Interactive Family Laboratories
The City Art Centre transforms into five floors of immersive science adventure, where young researchers can code robotic rovers, dig for dinosaur fossils, conduct forensic DNA assays, and build surgical models. Across the street at the National Museum of Scotland, the majestic Grand Gallery hosts drop-in exhibits and explosive live experiments.
Adult Discussions & Nocturnal Science
Evenings feature the 'Science After Dark' series, combining craft beer tastings, comedy debates, and discussions on artificial intelligence, deep space astronomy, and climate solutions led by world-class scientists.
