Heritage background, architectural provenance & visitor guide
The Vision of Mount Melville
Originally part of the Melville family estate, the landscape was redesigned in the 1920s by architect Paul Waterhouse, creating formal sunken rose gardens, cypress avenues, and an enchanting ornamental boating loch.
The Fairytale Dutch Village
The centerpiece is the whimsical Dutch Village built on an island in the lake, characterized by stepped gables, canal bridges, and brightly painted timber shutters where visitors paddle rowboats beneath the towers.
