About The Famous Spiegeltent

Heritage background, architectural provenance & visitor guide

The Magic of the Travelling Belgian Mirror Tent

Originating in Belgium in the early 20th century, The Famous Spiegeltent (Mirror Tent) is one of Edinburgh's most iconic and atmospheric festival performance spaces. Constructed from hand-carved teak, faceted bevelled mirrors, stained glass, and opulent crimson velvet booths, it transports audiences to an era of bohemian cabaret glamour.

Erected in St Andrew Square and the Book Festival Village during the summer festival season, it serves as the premier stage for the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, late-night Fringe cabarets, and intimate author conversations.
